Q: What are your hours?

A: In-person sessions are available Monday – Thursday. Online sessions are available Tuesdays and Thursdays. As my hours vary from week-to-week, please contact me for my current availability if you are thinking about setting up an appointment.

Q: What is a consultation?

A: A consultation is essentially a short conversation between you and me in which we discuss why you are seeking therapy and whether or not I can help. We also discuss my rate and, if you are ready, we can schedule your first appointment. Chances are that I can work with you, but in the case that I can’t, when appropriate I will gladly offer you referrals for other therapists in the area who might be a better fit.

Q: If you’re a “Marriage and Family” Therapist, does that mean that you only see couples and families?

A: As an MFT, I am trained and qualified to work with individuals in addition to couples and families. I work with adolescents/teens as well as adults in my practice. In fact, I have extensive experience working with individuals between the ages of 14 and 50 years of age.

Q: Do you see out-of-state clients?

A: Both in-person and online clients must reside in California. This may change in the future, however.

Q: What is your treatment style?

A: My treatment style is eclectic as I draw from many types of therapy including (but not limited to) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Theory, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples), and Attachment Theory. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and use this with some clients. After we meet for the first time, I will develop a treatment plan that will best fit you or your loved one’s goals and facilitate growth and healing. Maybe you have no idea what any of that means – that’s ok! What you can count on from me is compassion, empathy, and authenticity. I don’t judge my clients nor do I tell them what to do. I see therapy as a collaboration between client (or clients) and therapist. Together, we will work on your coping skills, self-awareness, and any additional goals you may have.
